Be Aware of your Fridges getting hot!!!

Posted on July 16, 2013 at 2:09 PM Comments comments (289)
TOP TIPS!
Your fridge in the caravan or motothome is invaluable in this scorching weather. Do remember that if your fridge has its vents on the awning side then make sure you do leave a good amount of air flow into the awning.
Try an angle the caravan or motorhome so that your vents are not directly in the sun or use a second parasol to shield the vents from direct sun.
Your fridge needs to be level to work.
If the temperature is exceeding 25degrees then you will need to remove the vents completely allowing uninterrupted air to the back of the fridge.
The fridge should work to 5-8 degrees when the temperature is 25 degrees. Any hotter and the fridge will not be as cold so be aware!.
Opening the fridge too many times will also make the fridge not work as well. Try to move some cold items like drinks to a cool box so that you don't have to keep opening the fridge when its really hot!.

Recent Fires In Caravans

Posted on May 19, 2013 at 6:19 AM Comments comments (216)
The top picture is a fire inside a boiler cupboard. The cupboard should not be used for storage but a sweeping brush got too close to the gas flame which in turn melted and then set fire to more items on the floor; namely a cool bag made of foam and a pair of trainers. The bottom pictures are an electrical switch fire that overheated. Although both are localised fires the fire extinguisher powder damage goes everywhere and both fires need extensive work to make right costing a lot of money. Be aware of what you are storing and where in your caravan. Simple precautions will prevent the majority of fires and make sure your smoke alarm is working. Don't get confused Carbon Monoxide detectors do not detect gas leaks from LPG or Natural Gas they detect the potential lethal fumes that can kill from burning fossil fuels.
